Enjoy our short news "AUREA jury member ahead of the game" presented by AUREA on this channel.
On 17 and 18 October, AWE hosted its fourth annual European show in Munich, Germany – and it was really worth while participating. There were a least three reasons for that. First, the house was fully packed with over 120 presenters, more than 100 exhibitors, and a record number of startups and enterprises in attendance. Second, the event proved that the AR/VR market in Europe is alive, active and maturing. Third – and obviously the one we appreciated most – was our jury member Emily Olman winning the „AWE EU Startup to watch“ award. Congrats!
As CEO and Co-Founder of Spatial First, Inc., Emily perfectly represents the AUREA Award philosophy of bringing together real life-experts, start-ups and open-minded AR/VR specialists. Having pitched in her well-known enthusiastic way, Emily and her Spatial First team were honored for “PlaceTime”, a mobile a mobile AR application for Office Leasing which demonstrates the vast business opportunities of the AR technology.
Participants in the AUREA competition and visitors as well will benefit from Emily Olman´s great expertise and have the chance to get some inspiring ideas. Chances are, that AUREA opens doors to new stages: With Robin Sho Moser, CEO of eyecandylab, speaking on the power of video-triggered AR an AUREA Award winner wowed the audience, too.
What else was going on at AWE 2019? Let´s put it in a nutshell:
Having kicked off with AWE Co-founder Ori Inbar declaring 2019 as the Year of the Creator, the show offered inspiring discussions, keynotes with players such as Bosch, Microsoft and RE'FLEKT; panels on mobile XR and immersive journalism; a number of joint presentations and the premiere of Women in Immersive Tech (WiiT) – a round table with six of the most respected women working in XR. On both days of the event, real-world case studies, workshops and tutorials - by HTC Vive and Tobii, Scape, and Wikitude among others –
plus speeches ranging from advertising and human perception in XR to the need for standards enthused the audience. Be it the Open AR Cloud, digital humans, 3D Internet a reality, body-controlled AR or our jury members´ presentation on Location-Based Entertainment (LBE) – AWE was awesome again. Finally, startup finalists pitched their companies in front of XR investors in an exciting Pitch Competition with Manus VR winning Best in Show VR for its haptic VR gloves, RE'FLEKT named Best in Show AR and Emily Olman´s Spatial First earning the title of Startup to Watch in the Auggie Awards.
So look forward to talk to award-winning AUREA jury member Emily Olman and get the most out of an outstanding competition, honoring excellence in VR & AR entertainment. Do we have to remind you that entries are open now until Nov 15th? Probably not. But if so, your winning chances are just one click away. Check it out at aurea-award.com. See you there!
